I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Authentic
Sometimes, being authentic means wearing your heart on your sleeve for the world to see.
Sometimes, it is a nice, neat heart with a tear
For another, as you see their fear
Sometimes, it is raw and bleeding, wounded and scarred, still pleading
Being authentic means letting the world see the entire you- The beautiful and raw parts.
It is easy to show your compassion for others, but you may try to hide away the fact that sometimes you also need compassion.
I’m great at this. Then, when I am authentic, and someone tries to give me that compassion, I get embarrassed that I have lost my independent strength and try to push away the support others are offering.
This is an example of being inauthentic. Sometimes, our authenticity means we need to be vulnerable.
Accepting support from others does not make you weak or dependent. It only makes you part of a community and authentic. Everyone likes to feel needed, so sometimes you must allow others to support you as well.
Being authentic is not always easy, but it is necessary.
Today’s challenge:
Be your entire raw, authentic, beautiful self.
