I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Children
Our children are our future, and they deserve so much more. They deserve our absolute best.
In the mind of a child
Thoughts so wild
What will the day bring
Will it be mild
Will they have to cling
What happened to days of fun
When they were free to run
What happened to the child free of worry
Never having to deal with another’s furry
Children full of anxiety
What a society
Why do we continue to fail
Why do we allow a thumb on the scale
Remember the days we were in school
Pretending to be so cool
Maybe a schoolyard brawl, but never worried we would have to crawl
Our children deserve the same
Not someone shooting for fame
Not a life that is fractured
Or one that is manufactured
Children deserve our best
So they can rest
I hope for our children to be safe. Their safety should be a fact of life, not their running and hiding.
While I try to stay away from politics here, children should not be part of politics. They should be children with a future.
Why must they continue to endure this
No days of bliss
Every day, on alert
Hoping not to be hurt
How do we stop
So they won’t continue to drop
Too young
To be stung
Open your heart
So, no more are added to the chart.
Let them grow
Never needing to know
Any fear like this
Please do not dismiss
Today’s challenge:
Make a child feel safe.
