I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Comfort
Last night, I had a comforting dream, which still surprises me. My grandmother from my mother’s side showed up. I do not recall her ever being in my dreams. My siblings and I lived in her home growing up. Of course, as a child, I did not appreciate it as I was not allowed to have friends over, and if she were there, I was always told to go outside.
However, for some reason, I found her being in my dream last night very comforting. I am still smiling as I write this. I could not converse with her, but I still was so happy to see her.
She was not the sit-in-her-lap and have fun type of grandmother. She was not a grandmother you went to for comfort. She had a difficult life and worked hard to make sure she could provide for her family. She buried both of her children’s fathers. Her third husband also predeceased her.
As I grew up, I learned to appreciate her more and tried showing her that. However, I do not believe she knew how much I appreciated her. I am not sure that I even knew how much I appreciate her. I have been telling her all morning how happy I was to see her and how comforted I feel, and I have asked her to visit again to talk.
Sometimes, we take people for granted and may not even realize we are doing that. Notice the comfort people bring into your life. Let them know while you can how much you appreciate them.
I love you, Baba.
Today’s challenge:
Appreciate the comfort others bring to your life.
