I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations.  Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself.  You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness.  Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you.  You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world.  Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china.  I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.

Compassion

compassion

There is much pain in this world.  And judging others contributes to that pain.

It is not always easy to face a situation with compassion when someone hurts another.  And our priority should always be for the one being mistreated at the moment.

But once we know that the receiver is safe, we need to turn our compassion to the one doing the hurting. It is not always easy to understand or even try to understand when we see someone behaving in hurtful ways. Our first instinct is to judge them instead of trying to be aware of the pain they have endured in the past.

Most people have been hurt in some way during their lifetime, and not everyone chooses to carry on that pain and pass it along to others.    Therefore, we quickly judge someone who is still carrying that pain.

While harming another because of your pain is never okay, we can try to find compassion and help them find a better way to release that pain.

For some, there is no way to help them.  If they are unwilling to receive the help offered, they will have to learn to live with the consequences of their behavior.

Today’s challenge:

Before judging another, ask if compassion would be a better option.
