I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Cruelty
Sometimes, we give in a little bit to the cruelty of the world. Really, the cruelty of humankind.
More than likely, we do not realize we are doing it as we go along with others. Other times, it is the purpose of the moment. We are hurt, and we think if I could break another, I would no longer feel this way.
In a way, you are right. Because you probably end up feeling far worse than you did.
Even when we inflict just a little revenge on another, we come from a place of cruelty.
Being cruel is not natural. It is learned. Usually, it is from someone who has been damaged in some way.
Often, it will come from an imagined injustice. The thought that this isn’t fair or that they don’t deserve it will cause some to react cruelly.
Cruelty comes in many forms and is not always directed at humankind. Sometimes, animals are the recipient, and other times, Mother Earth.
No one, including animals and nature, deserves cruelty.
If you are having a bad time, before you take it out on someone else, ask yourself if they truly deserve my cruelty. When you find the answer is no, then stop yourself and find a better way to heal. Just stopping yourself will have a healing effect.
Today’s challenge:
Catch yourself when you are upset, and don’t be cruel.
