I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations.  Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself.  You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness.  Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you.  You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world.  Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china.  I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.

Emotions

Every day, we are flooded with a multitude of emotions.  An emotion is present from the moment we wake up until the moment we fall asleep.

Often, we can feel more than one emotion at the same time.  We can feel happiness and wonder, or we can feel frustrated and accomplished simultaneously.

We can experience many sensations throughout the day. For example, we may feel happy and grateful as we walk, then trip over something and instantly become angry or hurt.

Cause and effect seem to be the guiding factor of our emotions.   That makes me angry.  That makes me happy.  I want to cry because of that.  At the same time, our reactions may be programmed responses within us.  A baby makes us coo.  A snake makes us tremble.

Either way, our emotions come from inside us.  The same situation can provoke different feelings in each of us.  Therefore, we cannot expect anyone to react in the same manner that we do.  A public proposal (don’t do that) can elicit many reactions from the people around you.  There will be an overall cheer, but some may become jealous, others may scoff at you, and some will feel a love for their partner as they remember that moment in their life.

We live in an emotional world with emotions governing most of our lives.   Therefore, we must choose our feelings rather than letting our emotions rule us.

Today’s challenge:

Become aware of the sensations you are feeling.
