I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Empathy is innate in all humans. However, we must nurture it for it to flourish.
While we are all born with empathy, it is not always present in each person. For that reason, not every person can show kindness and compassion.
Some view being empathetic as a weakness, while others view it as a strength. When viewed as a weakness, it causes people to become bullies and uncaring. People who view empathy as a weakness have not nurtured it within themselves. While we often learn empathy by example, not all people learn it that way and, therefore, learn to nurture it themselves. However, some learn that empathy will cause them to be lesser than others and regard it with disdain.
On the other hand, those who view empathy as a strength learn to be kind and compassionate to others and animals. Empathetic people understand that being kind and compassionate is what is best for them and the world around them.
For that reason, it is essential to never lose your compassion, even in the face of a bully. Often, they are the ones who require the most empathy.
Today’s challenge:
Nurture empathy in yourself and others.
