I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Enough Garden
We often have a mental garden of “Enough” where we try to grow only positive thoughts, but sometimes weeds of negativity creep in. I call these weeds “not” weeds. We may not have intentionally planted them, but we continue cultivating them. These “nots” come from ourselves, parents, teachers, siblings, friends, and sometimes strangers.
Unfortunately, when they were first introduced to our gardens, we did not remove them immediately but nurtured them. The weeds can take over if we do not tend to our gardens. We are not smart enough, not good-looking enough, not skinny enough, not athletic enough, not good enough.
We must pull the “not” weeds out with the roots and cultivate the “enough” garden into a beautiful, bountiful place of peace. It is essential that we know we are good-looking enough, smart enough, athletic enough, skinny enough, and good enough.
When we weed our gardens, it feels overwhelming at first, but the therapy and rewards are worth it. Then, we must stay vigilant not to allow new sprouts of doubt to grow.
Today’s challenge:
Weed your “enough” garden and then help the ones around you to weed theirs.
