I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Imperfections
I am learning to wear my imperfections.
Each person’s definition of perfection is different. Unfortunately, we tend to judge others by what we see as perfect and imperfect when their idea of perfect or imperfect differs from our definition.
Our first reaction to someone when they point out what they think is imperfect with us or our view is to attack. However, we can take a step back, look at their criticism, and see if it has merit. They may be pointing to an inconsistency in your behavior, and you know they are correct, so you want to attack them.
Instead of attacking, listen to what they say, examine your behavior, and then thank them for pointing out the error. If you truly believe you made a mistake, do what you must to correct the situation.
However, if you feel criticism is incorrect or the person criticizing you is a constant criticizer, you can walk away without a response.
We can try to respond to our imperfections with humility or make them worse by being stubborn.
We all have imperfections, but we must remember that because we see something as imperfect, it does not mean everyone will.
Today’s challenge:
Learn to wear your imperfections.
