I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Impressions
Sometimes, we dress up as someone we are not. We try to put on false imitations of ourselves to impress others.
However, we must remember that the best way to impress others is not to try. We only need to be ourselves. Also, we must remember if ourselves is not good enough for someone else, then maybe they are not worth trying to impress in the first place.
When we try to impress others, we are not being authentic. For example, you pretend to be more intelligent or more prosperous than you actually are, and then something forces you to be your true self. Now, you look like a fool and have to reintroduce yourself as you are. Hence, the person you were trying to impress is less impressed than if you had been yourself.
When we are being inauthentic, we are lying. Most people do not appreciate being lied to. So, while you might think pretending to be someone you are not is not harmful, you are hurting yourself.
We only have one chance to make a first impression; therefore, authenticity is the best way to impress anyone worth impressing.
Today’s challenge:
Be authentic.
