I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
In Common
When you see me
Can you see yourself?
Look closer. Do we have anything in common?
Do we both have two eyes, two ears, one nose, and one mouth?
Do we both have breath in our lungs?
Do we both have a beating heart?
Do we both walk on two feet and touch with two hands?
Do we both have blood running through our veins?
Do we both need food and water to survive?
Can you truly say that we have nothing in common?
The only thing I can see that we don’t have in common is that
When you hate me, you hate yourself.
When I love you, I love myself.
In a world so divided, we need to start seeing what we have in common.
Unfortunately, we notice our differences more than we see what we have in common. We focus on the things that divide us instead of embracing our similarities.
We may look different, speak differently, and have different spiritual beliefs and religions, but we should embrace these things about each other. Our ideas of achieving a common goal may differ, but for many, our values are the same.
We step closer to creating a better world when we appreciate these differences.
Today’s challenge:
Meet with someone you know who has a different ethnicity or religion and spend time listening to their beliefs. Find what you have in common and build from there.
