I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Inner Sunshine
Our inner sunshine must be allowed to light up this world.
Parents often sing “You Are My Sunshine” to their children. However, how frequently do they sing or hum this melody to their inner child?
We pick our children up when they fall and wipe off their knees, wiping away the tears that fall from their eyes and kissing their pain away, but how often do we do that for our inner child?
We often forget to encourage our inner sunshine to shine out into the world. Instead, we hold that child back in fear of being hurt or laughed at. However, the world needs that sunshine.
When we encourage our inner child to come out and play, we also encourage others to bring out their inner child to play.
We all need to dance in the rain, build a sand castle, chase butterflies, play hopscotch, and sing at the top of our lungs occasionally so that our inner sunshine can shine and know it is safe.
Play tag or hide and seek with your friends. Be a child at heart for an hour.
Today’s challenge:
Sing or hum “You Are My Sunshine” to your inner child.
