I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations.  Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself.  You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you.  You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world.  Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china.  I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.

Interpretation

We all interpret things differently.  Even if we are on the same side of the fence, we still see things differently than someone else.  This is because we analyze according to what has happened in our lives.

Even if you have tried to convey your point differently, it may still be misinterpreted.  There are many reasons that someone may not understand the point you are making. Since everyone’s life is different, they see the world through their perspective.  So, their interpretation of what you are doing or saying will differ from your intention.

There also may be times when you feel intentionally misinterpreted.  This can be because your intentions do not align with the other’s way of life, so they choose to interpret what you are saying in a way that makes you look wrong.  For example, I had this happen yesterday on a comment made online.  No matter how many different ways I conveyed what I was saying, I had two people arguing with me.  I’m not even sure they read what I said because I interpreted what they were saying as ridiculous. After all, one kept saying things that did not make sense as to what I was saying, and the other turned on a dime when I finally said something in a way that he could not logically misinterpret. At that point, I decided to extract myself from the situation, finding it not worth my time.

We must remember that we all misinterpret at times.  While we do not always understand why someone does not understand your point, they may also feel you need help understanding theirs.

Unfortunately, these misunderstandings can have unforeseen consequences.  Therefore, we must reach a mutual understanding to avoid unintended results.

Today’s challenge:

Try to see things from someone else’s point of view.
