I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Is That Yours?
How often do we pick up things that are not ours?
We often want to help others along their path. As a result, we pick up their burdens and hold them as if they belong to us. While this may be helpful at the moment, we must remember to return them.
It is not helpful for us or them if we retain their burdens. We all must learn to carry our own burdens to learn and grow. You are not being selfish when you refuse to continue to pick them up.
We must care for not only others but ourselves, too. When we pick up other’s burdens and don’t tend to ours, we are not doing ourselves or the world any favors. We must tend to our needs first to give our best selves to the world.
So, the next time you see something that needs to be picked up, ask yourself, is this mine to carry?
Help yourself, and then you can help the world.
Today’s challenge:
Return burdens to their rightful owners.
