I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Quiet
I said Quiet!
Do you ever have a hard time quieting the voices in your head? You tell them you want five minutes, just five minutes of quiet. They simmer down for about 45 seconds and then start up again. Has it been five minutes yet? I’m bored. I’m hungry. I want to watch TV. Sound familiar? Now we know what mom meant.
Only now, in addition to those complaints, there is, did I pay that bill? What should I make for dinner tonight? Do I need to go shopping? What do I have to do at work tomorrow? Why can’t I quiet my mind?
Consequently, getting a few minutes to ourselves may seem impossible. However, we cannot neglect ourselves. It is essential that we find five minutes of quiet at least once a day. Focus your mind on something you enjoy, maybe a word game. Or get yourself an adult coloring book and colored pencils. Hide in the bathroom if you must. Or, if you have to take them in the car before entering the house, do so.
I often look for five minutes of quiet, especially when trying to find my next topic for Morning Coffee. Luckily, this came out today after my five minutes of Zen.
Today’s challenge:
Get yourself an adult coloring book, and take some time to add color to your life.
