I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Resiliency
How resilient are you?
We are all resilient, even if we do not realize it.
For example, we do not give up every time something does not go our way. We may scream, cry, or throw a temper tantrum, and then we get up, wipe ourselves off, and try again. Our resilience is ingrained into us from an early age, helping us to find our way around obstacles.
When we encourage children to keep trying, we are teaching them resilience. For example, when a toddler falls, we encourage them to get up; we don’t say Oh, you failed, now you must stay down.
If we all gave up every time we failed, we would never play games, have never graduated, and never garden. There are many things in life that we do not succeed at the first time we do them, and even if we do succeed the first time, it is unlikely that we succeed at them every single time we do them.
The essential thing is that we do not take on a defeatism attitude. We must not become so rigid that we do not bend. A willow bends in the wind, and an oak can snap. Our hardiness comes from being flexible.
We must accept that we will not always be successful at everything. Therefore, we learn and grow from our mistakes. Hence, our failures are as critical as our successes, and our resilience results from our mistakes, not our accomplishments.
Today’s challenge:
Admit your mistakes.
