I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Shifting Gears
We can shift gears as we need or want to.
When we choose to go in reverse, we are looking behind us. We are revisiting past memories. However, if we continue to go in reverse, we cannot create a better future for ourselves.
On the other hand, we can shift into neutral. However, we can only move forward in neutral if pushed. Shifting into neutral can help us as we prepare for the future. Here, we can take some time to look down the road and decide which road we want to take and how fast we want to get to our destination.
Finally, we can shift into drive. When we move into drive, we can start moving forward. We start slowly as we shift into first gear. As we get comfortable, we can increase our speed and shift through second and third gear, finally ending in fourth gear.
We have many options when we are moving forward. If we stay in first gear, we will not get very far, as it will be very slow going, and therefore, we may miss out on some beautiful sights ahead of ourselves. We can increase to second, then third gear. Here, we are going at a pleasant speed and can enjoy our surroundings as we continue to move forward. If we choose to shift into fourth gear, we may start going too fast, thereby missing some of the sights as we pass them.
The important thing is that as we move at a comfortable pace, we are moving forward into life rather than looking to the past or staying in place.
Today’s challenge:
Keep moving forward, while occasionally slowing down to see the sights.
