I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Stand Your Ground
Often, people expect more of us than we can or want to give.
There is nothing wrong with people asking for help. Also, there is nothing wrong with saying no. Standing your ground is something everyone should do.
We all like to help when we can. Although, if, for any reason, you feel as if what someone is asking of you is more than you can take on, a polite no is all you have to say. They may ask for an explanation; if you choose to give them one, you can. However, you are not required to.
We must also allow others to stand their ground and accept them declining to help us.
When someone chooses to stand their ground, it is because they have set a boundary that they choose not to cross. It does not mean that they don’t care about you. They may know they are not equipped to help you at that moment.
Factors change, and though they or you may have done this in the past for the one asking, it does not mean there is an obligation to do it again.
Today’s challenge:
Stand your ground and allow others to stand their ground without explanation.
