I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations.  Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself.  You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you.  You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world.  Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china.  I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.  

Stories

Do you tell yourself stories?

When we overthink, we often start to make up stories.  We don’t do it intentionally.  Our subconscious pulls from previous experiences and conforms them to our current experience.

For instance, if you were in an unfaithful relationship and the person you are with now is busy, you may automatically think they are cheating on you.  Your mind starts to spin out of control, telling you that, of course, they are cheating; everyone cheats.

When we are thinking rationally, we know that is not true.  We are placing another’s mistakes on them, which is unfair to them and yourself.  For instance, if you attack them and they are out buying you a gift, you have just damaged them and the gift they intended to give you.

Our stories from our past are not our stories that are now or our future.  They may not even be entirely true stories of our history.  Again, our subconscious may only give certain things to remember, and we make up the rest of the story to conform to what we want to believe.

Therefore, we must be vigilant and examine our thoughts for truthfulness.

Ask yourself if the story you are telling yourself is true.
