I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations.  Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself.  You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china.  I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow. The Big Picture
Do you ever get tunnel vision? You get so focused on what you need to do that you forget to pay attention to the big picture.
I have been guilty of this at times. For example, a client will have a passion for something, and I so badly want to give them their desire that I will forget to take a step back at that moment and say wait, that won’t work with this other thing you have asked for.
Often, it is the little things that grab our attention and make us forget to step back and look at the big picture.
There may be times when we do need to have tunnel vision to complete a project. However, we do not need it to be so narrow as not to see all available options.
This can be true not only in our work but also in our relationships.
There may be an important reason our expectations are unmet in a relationship, but we only see how it affects us. We need to remember to take the other person into account. There may be a good reason plans had to be canceled, possibly for a good surprise. I am not saying let the other person take advantage of you. We must step back, look at the big picture and see if there is a good reason for things happening the way they are before we react.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of not seeing the big picture. However, we must avoid getting so caught up in the little things that we miss the larger perspective.
Today’s challenge:
Ask yourself: Are you seeing the big picture?
