I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness. Perhaps you can hold the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Maybe you have some untapped talent you regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Transformation of Greed
A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, was published on December 19, 1843, nearly 200 years ago, yet humankind has not changed.
The greed he wrote about is still alive, which was proven recently.
My favorite story, although an illusion. A greedy older man learns how his greed affects others in one night and transforms into a beautiful human being.
There have been many versions of this story told in many ways. To this day, a new story is told every year. Not just at Christmas, but if you look at Ground Hog Day, it is the same story, told differently.
What he writes about is what starts wars, causes oppression, and, if not ended, will cause the destruction of our world.
We don’t like to look at it that deeply, but it is that deep.
The many different writings and versions of it show us how so many want to live in a world without greed and oppression. Sadly, not all want the beautiful world that so many of us crave.
So the story will go on. The rewrites and the new versions will continue. My hope is not for another two hundred years.
Today’s challenge:
Be Kind.
