I hope these thoughts give you something to ponder while you enjoy your morning beverage. As you go about your day, I invite you to take some time to reflect on your observations. Consider if there’s anything you can do to enhance your life, such as looking into the mirror and appreciating yourself. You may also find a way to make the world more beautiful with a simple act of kindness, like holding the door open without expecting a thank you. You may also want to consider if you have a gift to share with the world. Perhaps you have some untapped talent you may regret wasting, as we sometimes do with unused towels or our good china. I hope you find them enjoyable and return for more tomorrow.
Want vs. Need
Have you ever wanted something so bad that you could not imagine how you could continue without this thing? However, do you truly need it?
There are things that we want and things that we need. Our needs are not for selfish reasons, while our wants may be.
We may want to make more money, have a nicer home or car, go on vacation, or raise our children to be the best athletes or smartest ones in their class.
There is nothing wrong with wanting these things; however, we must realize that wanting them and not getting them is not the end of the world.
At the same time, we need many things that we keep saying we want. However, they are essential. For example, we need to be happy, love, and be good humans. Our needs are inherited. Living without them makes life more complex and can cause guilt.
Neither wanting nor needing is terrible; it is part of life. However, it is essential that we know the difference.
We often live in a world of want without realizing that we may not truly need it.
Today’s challenge:
Know your wants from your needs.
